Vanilla Ice Cream

RECIPE INGREDIENTS
1 cup milk
1 cup heavy cream
2 egg yolks
1/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract or seeds from 1 vanilla pod

DIRECTIONS
Combine the milk and cream in a saucepan and bring to boiling point. Remove from heat and add the vanilla.


Whisk together the egg yolks and sugar. Gradually whisk in the milk mixture. Return the mixture to a saucepan and cook over low heat for about 5-7 minutes, whisking gently, until the mixture thickens. Let cool before freezing in an ice cream machine, according to manufacturer's instructions.
